As you may know, the Steel Valley Arts Council (SVAC) no longer rents 303 East Eighth Avenue. The building owner has expanded to utilize the entire building. This is not sad news for us, but a positive indication of economic growth in the Steel Valley.

We accomplished our vision of using storefront property in the Steel Valley area for art, stemming from an idea of inhabiting a space and bringing art to one spot after another, bringing recognition to the great spaces we have in our town. We had attached the "303" to the Artspace name so we could have continuity when we relocated.

At Artspace 303, we enjoyed a successful and remarkable year that is worth looking back on, and relishing in. We were able to bring successful artists month after month into our area, into our space. It was a stellar year, truly.

As exciting as it is to venture out into the next space, it is not the only aspect of our mission as an arts council. This past year we've implemented two murals, provided scholarships to local art students and participated in the community day's activities.   But the board of directors realizes we need a home.

SVAC has identified 105 East Eighth Avenue, on the corner of Eighth Avenue and the Homestead Grays Bridge, one of the busiest intersections in the Mon Valley as the new location of Artspace.   The landlord, dedicated SVAC member Lloyd Cunningham, has provided us with an opportunity we cannot refuse.   In this location we would like to make reconstruction efforts to make the space ready for art.   This means we need financial support to make this happen.

SVAC started a capital campaign to make this new space a wonderful location for art in the Steel Valley and to secure a long term existence in the region. That's why I am asking for your generous donation of $100 or more to keep creativity and collaboration in the Steel Valley, happening for years to come.

Please feel free to send your generous tax-deductible donation to: Steel Valley Arts Council, P.O. Box 3003 Munhall, PA 15120. If you have additional questions feel free to call Mike Solomon at 412-462-7033. Your kind support is greatly appreciated.
